Scott loves being active whether it is in the gym, hiking, running or traveling. Scott is also an Emmy Award nominated meteorologist bringing more than 22 years of forecasting and broadcasting experience to North Texas. In 2006, he was awarded the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society.
Scott is both a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. However, he is now glad to be "back home" with family. But being from a military family, Scott is used to moving. Scott has been challeged with ice storms, hurricanes, tornadoes and desert heat. Thanks to his dad, his fear turned into a fascination, leading him to study meteorology at Western Illinois University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology and a double minor in broadcasting and math.ĭuring Scott's career, he has moved to and forecasted for many different climates. He still remembers watching with amazement at the force of the wind and the intensity of the lightning. Scott and his father would sit on the front porch watching the storms roll into his neighborhood. Oddly enough, he had a fear of the weather from the time he was 3 until he was about 12. Quinn feels that if he is excited by the weather, then the viewers should be too!īy 2005, Quinn was one of Miami's most popular on-air personalities and guided the area through the most active hurricane season in history. His goal always is to give the viewers the information they need in an engaging and entertaining way. Quinn has always been a fan of the weather and he hates the idea of a boring weathercast.

Miami was the next stop, and it was a turning point in Quinn's career. He also reported extensively on the rising political career of Emily Couric before her unfortunate death in October 2001. While in Charlottesville, Quinn covered stories related to the Thomas Jefferson/Sally Hemings controversy and the famous baby switch at the University of Virginia hospital. Soon his duties included full time reporting and anchoring the weekend weathercasts. He was hired as a cameraman but three months into the job, a chance to report in front of the camera solidified his new career path. Quinn's television career started as an actor on ABC's "All My Children." That experience allowed him to develop a comfort in front of the camera which helped him to perform exceptionally in local and national broadcasting.Īfter changing careers from acting to broadcasting, Quinn's first newsroom job was at WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also serves as the national weather anchor for "CBS Saturday Morning."įollow joined WCBS-TV in 2007 after a five-year run at WTVJ, in Miami, Florida.
